Inventors contest is set for Aug. 28

Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Co. will have its Faultless/Garden Weasel Invention Search Contest Aug. 28 in Kansas City.
The company will invite inventors in any product category to submit their U.S. patented or patent-pending prototypes and products for a chance to win the opportunity to have their product marketed and sold in retail stores. Twenty inventions will be chosen. The submission deadline is Aug. 12.
"Ultimately, the goal is to land the inventor with a licensing deal and pay them royalty," Steve Pope, president of the Inventors Club of Kansas City, which is organizing the contest, said Monday.
This will be the second contest, Pope said. The first, in January, was limited to the lawn and garden category. It drew 12 applicants, 10 of whom were accepted and invited to present their products.
Organizers have a goal of 100 applicants for the August contest, Pope said. Three executives at Faultless Starch will serve as judges: Bill Wood, executive vice president; Ben Stark, marketing administrator/advertising vice president; and Joe Rowley, Private Gardens marketing director.
The contest will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Linda Hall Library, 5109 Cherry St.
Pope also does contract work for Faultless Starch and owns R2Fact Product Development Inc., based in Lenexa.
More information about the contest is available on the Inventors Club of Kansas City's Web site.
